Prosecutor investigating woman’s death in N.J. police lockup

Authorities are investigating a woman’s death inside the Trenton police lockup Sunday night.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the woman’s death. The office is early in its investigation, and a spokesperson said Monday the incident appears to be a case of suicide.

Officers found the woman at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday and called for EMS, which took the woman to a local hospital.

The woman’s identity was not immediately made public.
