The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a woman was found dead on Monday afternoon inside a residence in the Phoenix neighborhood.
According to JSO, the woman, who was in her early 50s, was found unresponsive and not breathing around 1 p.m. at a home on 1300 14th St. W. When medical personnel with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue crews arrived at the scene, they declared the woman dead at the scene.
JSO said its homicide unit is at the scene completing its investigation, along with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.
Police added that the woman was found in her home because her landlord, who hadn’t seen her since Friday when she was in the front yard of the home, managed to enter the residence and found her on the floor inside a locked room.
