They rarely make it easy on themselves, but the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks survived another close scare at the Walkup Skydome in a game they seemed to have control over. NAU football held on to defeat the Cal Poly Mustangs, 35-27, in part due to a crazy sequence to end the first half and a stunning fourth-down decision deep in NAU territory.
Up by eight with the ball in the final minutes, NAU ran four straight plays to bring out Cal Poly’s three timeouts, plus the two-minute timeout. The Lumberjacks faced fourth-and-1 from their own 28-yard line. ×
