Cincinnati Bengals star Ja'Marr Chase was hit with a one-game suspension on Monday for spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers' defender Jalen Ramsey, the NFL announced.
Wide receiver Chase was seen appearing to spit at cornerback Ramsey during the fourth quarter of Cincinnati's 34-12 defeat on Sunday.
Ramsey aimed a punch at Chase following the incident and was promptly ejected from the game.
Chase's spitting incident was not seen by officials at the time. However, video footage which emerged after the incident clearly showed Chase spitting on Ramsey.
"During the fourth quarter, Chase spit on Pittsburgh cornerback Jalen Ramsey, violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to 'any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship'," the NFL said in a state
