FITCHBURG - Westfield State first-year linebacker Tedi Hunt picked off a pass with 11 seconds left to stop a Fitchburg State drive and help the Owls preserve a 10-7 win over the Falcons in the season finale November 15 on the road.
Fitchburg started a drive at their own nine-yard line with just over a minute left in regulation time, and quickly advanced the ball to the Westfield State 35, but Hunt picked Falcons quarterback Rocky Marchitelli on a pass over the middle to seal the win.
The Owls close the season at 3-7 overall, 3-6 in the MASCAC.
On a day where points were hard to come by, Westfield State opened the scoring on a 42-yard field goal from Andrew Currier with 29 seconds left in the first half. The 42-yarder tied the school record for longest field goal, set by Mike Orellan
