AVERY COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A wildfire burned 70 acres in Avery County on Monday afternoon along Banner Elk Highway, according to the North Carolina Forestry Commission.

The North Carolina Forest Service said on Monday, Nov. 17, that crews battled a 70-acre fire along Banner Elk Highway, and at the time of this writing, 0% of the fire was contained.

Officials said that six structures and six homes were threatened, and no evacuation order or road closures have been announced.

The North Carolina Forest Service said they were using two dozers to install lines around the fire’s perimeter.
