With just a few weeks left of fall, many are already starting to get ready for this winter season, including your doctors, who want to remind you how to stay ahead of illnesses and stop viruses before they spread.

“It looks like we're right on track with the patterns we see every year. This is just the beginning phases, but we can expect numbers of infections to keep rising over the next few months,” Dr. Jeremy Hogstrom with CHI Memorial Internal Medicine Associates says.

Hogstrom says we can start to see a steady increase with peaks around January and February. Right now, they're seeing flu and COVID cases on the rise, with RSV and strep close behind.

He encourages people to start paying close attention to how and what they're feeling: it could be the early signs of an infection.
