KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County Commission approved two agenda items regarding the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Service Center's leadership on Monday night.

The first was a resolution giving the Mayor the authority to hire a temporary leader. That interim chief would serve for six months, through the end of June 2026. The second was an emergency ordinance delaying the Sheriff's Office from taking control of the center for six months.

During the meeting, commissioners discussed several topics, including the center's underutilization, the remaining issues that Interim Chief Brian Bivens was unable to resolve , and whether the county should manage the center at all.
