COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Springs K9 Officer Roam is taking big steps in his recovery process after he was critically injured while on duty in October.

On October 15, police said Roam was stabbed multiple times in his head and abdomen while trying to help officers take a barricaded suspect into custody.

On Monday, his handler said a veterinarian was able to take out all of Roam’s sutures, and his drain was removed. According to his handler, this means Roam gets to say goodbye to his cone.

“Also the big news for us was that he could finally have a bath (note wet dog) !!!” Roam’s handler said in an Instagram post.

According to Roam’s handler, Roam still has approximately three weeks of limited activity and antibiotics left, but the K9’s recovery is going well.
