Volusia County Schools have been selected to participate in a pilot program aimed at preventing school shootings through the use of drones, funded by a $557,000 allocation from the Florida Legislature.
The program, known as the Campus Guardian Angel Program, is developed by a Texas-based company and utilizes drones to protect students and staff during active shooter situations.
Justin Marston, CEO and founder of Campus Guardian Angel, said, "Our goal is to get there first. Our goal is to take all the risks. We don't think any brave officer or brave teacher should put their life on the line unnecessarily if we can do it with a drone. We don't care if we get shot. It's just a lump of plastic."
