Melbourne nightclub Revolver Upstairs is being sued by a 32-year-old man who was viciously stabbed more than 10 times inside the venue late last year.

Liam Cummins has filed legal action against the owners of the Melbourne hotspot and a security firm, after he was left with life-threatening injuries following an alleged drug deal gone wrong, the Herald Sun reported.

In the early hours of Sunday on September 15 last year, Mr Cummins was stabbed 13 times inside the Prahran venue.

Mr Cummins claims the venue and the security firm contracted by the company, B.J. Consultants, breached their duty of care to protect him as a patron.
