A day in Berry's Great Southern Hotel has helped a golf group raise thousands of dollars for the Cancer Council.

The Wednesday Whackers have been raising money to take part in The Longest Day, a Cancer Council initiative that has teams complete four rounds of golf in a day.

The 12 members of the Wednesday Whackers have set their sights on playing at the Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club.

As part of their fundraising efforts they held a big day at the Great Southern Hotel, which organised live music, face painting, a jumping castle, children's games and activities, to create a family atmosphere.

A raffle was also held on the day, offering plenty of prizes.

The Wednesday Whackers team has so far raised more than $55,000 for the Cancer Council.
