Brandon’s Sexuality Education Resource Centre and other community groups are hosting a Transgender Day of Remembrance service on Thursday.

A service will be held at Knox United Church to honour and remember those who have been murdered or took their own lives due to anti-trans violence and prejudice, a news release said.

The service will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and a candlelight vigil from 6 to 7 p.m. Both events will also include a community reception.

The day is also intended to “raise awareness of the prevalence of anti-trans violence and honour the resilience of trans community members,” the release said.
