NEW DELHI: The state government has approached the Supreme Court against Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The government has filed a plea seeking to defer SIR in the state till the local body elections. The plea was filed by chief secretary Dr A Jayathilak.

The government approached the Supreme Court after the Kerala High Court refused to interfere in the matter. The chief secretary mentioned in the plea that if the SIR and the local body election process are implemented under the same system, it will affect the administrative system and both cannot be implemented at the same time. The state government also demanded in the plea that the SIR be deferred until the local body election process is completed.
