OWENSBORO, KY. (WFIE) - Owensboro Catholic is one of our four Kentucky high school football teams, still alive, in the playoffs. The others are Owensboro, Henderson County, and Union County.

As for the Aces though, they are 11-1, and riding an eight-game winning streak! After two, comfortable, class 2A playoff wins over Fort Campbell and Crittenden County, the competition gets tougher, with a quarterfinal matchup, against Somerset.

OC has faced the Briar Jumpers, the last two seasons in the playoffs, and won both times. So this Friday, Catholic is hoping that the third time won’t be the charm, for Somerset.

As is often the case, the Aces offense has been prolific, averaging almost 44 points a game, and with that, their defense often gets overlooked, but it shouldn’t.
