Gaza, Nov 18: Hamas, the governing authority in Gaza, on Monday rejected a UN Security Council resolution calling for the deployment of an international force in the territory, saying it fails to respect the “demands and rights” of the Palestinian people.

“This resolution does not meet the level of our Palestinian people's political and humanitarian demands and rights,” Hamas said in a statement. The group also criticised the proposed international force, which includes a mandate for the disarmament of Palestinian factions.

Hamas described the resolution as imposing “an international trusteeship on the Gaza Strip,” which it said was firmly rejected by the people and groups in the territory.
