KOCHI: A woman was arrested for burning her four-year-old daughter’s hand with a hot pan. The woman, a native of Kattithara, Maradu, was arrested. It is reported that the mother had been harassing the child for a long time. The woman will be produced in court soon. Neighbours say that the mother harassed the child due to conflicts within the family.

The cruelty was revealed when the teachers, noticing that the child was upset at school, inquired about the matter. The child told the teachers that her mother gave food to her elder brother but ignored her. When the teachers examined the child further, they found burn marks on her body. With this, the school authorities informed the police. The child had burn marks on her arms and legs, and private parts. She was then given medical assistance
