The killing of Madvi Hidma, one of the India's most-feared Maoist commanders , is akin to driving the last nail into the coffin of Left-Wing Extremism in the country. This is a major setback for the Maoists and comes close on the heels of the killing of Nambala Keshava Rao alias Basavraj in May, and the surrender of Mallojula Venugopal Rao (aka Bhupathi) in October.
Among those killed with Hidma was his wife, Raje, and some close followers, according to reports. The encounter happened between Alluri Sitarama Raju and Sukma districts.
The decline of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) in India began with the 2021 killing of Milind Teltumbde , a CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member. The intense back-to-back operations came as Union Home Minister Amit Shah resolved for a "Naxal-mukt Bharat".
