ATLANTA — Marshall University quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson was named to the Manning Award’s "Stars of the Week" list on Monday after a 30-18 Thundering Herd win over Georgia State on Saturday.
Del Rio-Wilson completed 22 of 27 passes and racked up 418 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in a return to his hometown of Atlanta. He is now up for fan voting for the National QB of the Week award.
“I knew this was a big game for him coming back to his family,” Marshall coach Tony Gibson said of Del Rio-Wilson. “His daughter is here. His dad lives here. He played with a lot of the guys on Georgia State’s roster when he was playing high school football. I knew he wanted to get the win and play hard. I thought once he settled in that he was what we’re all used to seeing.”
