The first round of the GHSA state football playoffs is in the books and Jenkins and Benedictine advanced to the second round, while Bethesda Academy won in the SCISA state semifinals.

There were some memorable individual performances on the football field Friday night, and others on the basketball court last week as play tipped off to start the season.
