EL CENTRO — The Imperial Valley Community Foundation celebrated its 13th Annual National Philanthropy Day at the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse on Friday, November 14, where guests were honored with various annual awards.
Formed in 1987, the Imperial Valley Community Foundation has sought to champion local philanthropy to support local residents of the community. Support has come in various forms over the years, including scholarships, renewable energy initiatives, burrowing owl stewardship, and more.
Keynote speaker Caitlin Chávez, former director of Pioneers’ Museum, addressed guests to thank them for their efforts to support the Foundation and Imperial County residents. She currently serves as a nonprofit consultant for agencies like the Imperial Valley Food Bank, where she supports vulne
