Udupi: Police have arrested a leader of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike on charges of delivering a provocative speech during a protest meeting in the city.
The arrested person has been identified as Ratnakar Ameen, 49, a resident of Marne Nadibettu in Ajjarkad. On November 15, the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Udupi unit, had organised a protest near the Jatka Stand in Udupi condemning the Delhi bomb blast incident. During the protest, Ratnakar Ameen allegedly delivered a speech that police say promoted hatred between religious communities. Based on this, a case was registered against him at the Udupi Town police station.
