CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An annual donation drive, “Turkey and a $20,” will get underway Tuesday at a downtown Charleston homeless shelter.

Each year, One80 Place calls on the community to donate a frozen turkey and $20, which will be used to support people in need.

The goal of Tuesday’s donation drive is to raise $80,000, collect grocery store gift cards, and frozen turkeys that can feed local families in need.

Every dollar raised will support the shelter’s community kitchen and food rescue programs. The donations can provide thousands of meals to those experiencing homelessness and hunger, and help the shelter stock its kitchen with nutritious meals and supplies during one of the busiest times of the year.
