Cricket has witnessed many dramatic careers, but few have been as puzzling as that of Australian off-spinner Jason Krejza. A bowler who announced his arrival with a sensational 8-wicket haul against India in his debut innings, Krejza seemed destined for a long run at the highest level. Yet, his international journey ended almost as quickly as it began, spanning just two Tests over a period of six weeks.
Krejza’s debut came during the 2008 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur, at a time when Australia were trailing 0-1 and searching for answers. Drafted in as a surprise inclusion, the spinner stunned India with figures of 8 for 215 in the first innings, dismantling a formidable batting order.
