A TikTok star has become the centre of a major legal case after a North Carolina court ordered her to pay $1.75 million (Rs 15 crore) to the wife of a man she was accused of having an affair with. Brenay Kennard was sued by her manager’s wife, Akira Montague. The lawsuit, filed in May 2024, claims that Kennard had a romantic relationship with Montague’s husband, Tim Montague and even spoke openly about it. Court papers state that the couple’s marriage had love and stability before Kennard became involved, and the wife says the situation has “destroyed happiness and home."

She says the experience caused “humiliation" as well as “mental and emotional anguish," due to which she is now taking therapy. The court agreed that the damage was serious and ruled in her favour. According to Montague’
