The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a one-year initiative to provide free biometric updates for children’s Aadhaar cards. The waiver, effective from 1 October 2025, allows parents to update their children’s fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs without any fee.
The updates, known as Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU), are required at two key ages: 5 and 15. These updates ensure that a child’s Aadhaar information remains accurate, which is essential for accessing government schemes, educational benefits, official documents, and welfare programmes.
