A nurse has broken her silence after she was convicted of smuggling drugs into a Yorkshire prison.

Amy Hatfield, 40, was working as a mental health nurse at HMP Lindholme in Doncaster when she started a relationship with Joseph Whittingham, an inmate at the prison.

Whittingham enlisted Hatfield to smuggle drugs - including spice concealed in Ribena bottles - knives and mobile phones into the prison, as well as assisting in money laundering. She was caught and arrested in October 2019.

In 2023, Hatfield received a sentence of 10 years and two months in prison. She was released earlier this year after serving half of her term, including the time she spent on remand.
