JACKSON, MI — After an eight-year absence, Jacksonians will soon have the chance to dine on their favorite custom-made sandwiches at the Pickle Barrel.
The popular deli is reopening at a new location Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1221 S. West Ave., north of High Street. It’s been closed since 2017, and owner Sharon Collins is ready to again serve the area.
“I feel very comfortable with my crew because they got it, I lean on them so heavily and I’m feeling good,” Collins said. “I know they they’ve got my back on everything.”
The Pickle Barrel’s story dates back to 1979 when Collins and Susan O’Connell, who died in 2013, first opened the deli at 918 Greenwood Ave., near Union Street. The restaurant featured a carryout menu of unique sandwiches with names representing Jackson landmarks, like The
