Sam Elliott returned to Taylor Sheridan's expanding TV universe on Nov. 16, joining the season 2 cast of "Landman."
Elliott, 81, made a brief appearance in the second season premiere as T.L., the father of the show's lead character Tommy Norris, an oil crisis manager portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton.
The Western drama is about the oil industry in Texas.
One scene during the premiere features a withered T.L. resting in a wheelchair while watching the sunset at a care facility. From this initial appearance, it is unclear what the dynamic will be between the on-screen father and son duo, but T.L. is scheduled to be a recurring character in the series.
