CHICO, Calif. - Residents in Butte County can burn Sunday and Monday as they are designated Permissive Burn Days. According to the Butte County Air Quality Management District, specific rules apply based on location.
In Paradise, burning is permitted with a valid Paradise Fire Department burn permit. Residents in Upper Ridge and Magalia can burn from 8:45 a.m. until one hour before sunset.
Within the Chico city limits, burning is prohibited regardless of lot size. For areas in the Chico Sphere of Influence, burning is allowed on residential lots at least 0.90 acre in size during the same hours.
In Biggs, Gridley and Oroville, burning requires a fire agency or Oroville Fire Department permit, with hours specified on the permit. Elsewhere in Butte County, burning is allowed from 8:45 a.m
