An internet outage took X, formerly Twitter, and several other websites offline the morning of Nov. 18.
Users of those websites were met with a screen that said an error with Cloudflare was to blame. Cloudflare is a service that provides tools to websites that protect them from cyber attacks and keep them online during times of heavy traffic, The Independent reports .
Downdetector , which monitors internet outages and was itself hit by the Cloudflare outage shows a sharp spike in outage reports around 7 a.m. that quickly fell off. By 7:15, several thousand people were still reporting issues.
