The Boston Bruins have been hampered by the injury bug, resulting in the team having to call up players from the AHL.
Boston suffered a 3-1 home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday. In the loss, the Bruins were without Charlie McAvoy, Casey Mittlestadt, Viktor Arvidsson, and Elias Lindholm due to injuries.
Due to the injuries, Boston called up Riley Tufte and Matěj Blümelfrom Providence to make their season debuts. Tufte scored the Bruins’ lone goal with 10 seconds left in the game, as the call-ups made an impact.
Following the loss, Bruins star goalie Jeremy Swayman praised the team’s next-man-up mentality.
