Websites like X (formerly Twitter), Canva, and even outage tracker Down Detector were hit by an unexpected wave of server errors, throwing parts of the web into temporary chaos.

The issue was traced back to Cloudflare, one of the world’s biggest internet infrastructure providers. From shielding sites against cyberattacks to helping manage sudden spikes in web traffic, Cloudflare plays a major behind-the-scenes role in how millions access online services. On Monday, that backbone cracked.
