COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The trial in the 2021 killing of a young Cobb County couple began Monday, with difficult details emerging of parents slain in their own home and their 2-year-old boy left for hours alone.

Matthew Lanz, the accused killer of Justin and Amber Hicks four years ago, has waived his right to a jury trial is instead undergoing a bench trial.
