MCFARLAND, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 40-year-old man who died from a crash on eastbound U.S. Highway 14 from McCoy Road just north of Lacy Road last week.

Law enforcement, including the Madison Fire Department, arrived at the scene shortly after 8:50 a.m. Thursday and found two vehicles with significant damage.

Travis G. Shippy, of Oregon, died at the scene. The second driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The medical examiner's office said a forensic examination was completed Friday, confirming that Shippy died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Additional testing was underway as of Tuesday morning.

Fitchburg police and the medical examiner's office will continue to investigate this death.
