LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Shively police officer was recently released from the hospital after they were hit by a car early Tuesday morning in Louisville.

At about 3:20 a.m., a Shively Police Department officer was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Millers Lane, according to a SPD news release.

At the time the officer was struck, they were outside their vehicle assisting with a tow, authorities said.

The officer was transported to the hospital. In an 8 a.m. update, Shively Police Department said the officer was treated for "minor injuries" and has since been released from the hospital.

The driver reportedly remained at the scene and Shively Police Department says no criminal charges are expected at this time.
