Millions of people board cruise ships every year to enjoy sun, fun and friends for memorable vacations.

The majority of those getaways are uneventful. However, every once and awhile, a tragedy will occur on board resulting in the death of a passenger.

Approximately 200 cruise ship deaths are reported each year, according to Newsweek . The actual number is probably be higher due to limited reporting requirements across international jurisdictions.
