AS the December 5 deadline for mandatory Waqf property registration approaches, the Waqf Trusts across Gujarat are allegedly facing a double setback – persistent technical issues on the national UMEED Portal and delays in the issuance of Public Trust Register (PTR) copies by the Gujarat State Waqf Board.

Both the bottlenecks significantly slowed down compliance efforts, prompting community organisations to raise urgent alarms with state and central authorities, Vadodara-based Tandalja Development Council (TDC) said in its complaint to the Central Waqf Council, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and Gujarat State Waqf Board.
