KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A new court date has been set in the Malakiah Lamar Harris case. The change came during Harris’ court appearance Tuesday.

The new date is to decide if the 15-year-old charged in the murder of a 13-year-old girl in Powell in October of 2024 will be charged as an adult.

Instead of the previously-set January date, the case will continue on Feb. 25, 26 and March 2. Both the prosecution and defense have agreed to move the date back so they could have more time to review a “new discovery” being made available after the start of the case.
