YOUNGSTOWN - A local non-profit that supports the LGBTQIA+ community in the Mahoning Valley is speaking up following the latest allegations against Ursuline High School.
A federal civil rights lawsuit filed on Monday, November 17 accuses the school's administration of not properly addressing instances of homophobia and bullying of a gay student.
A statement from Full Spectrum Community Outreach states that bullying someone for their sexual orientation or gender identity is not only unacceptable, but also dangerous.
"LGBTQIA+ youth already face disproportionate levels of harassment, mental health challenges and social isolation. Incidents like this escalate those risks and create a climate of fear that no student should ever have to navigate," the statement reads.
