The 10-year-old boy killed in Saturday’s Newark shooting which left two people dead and three others wounded, was full of life and deeply loved by his community, his mother said.
Jordan Garcia and his 11-year-old brother , Jayceon, were walking home from a city recreation center when they were among five people struck by gunfire at the corner of Chancellor Avenue and Leslie Street around 7 p.m., officials said.
Jordan and 21-year-old Kiyah Mae Scott were killed, while Jayceon, a 19-year-old man and a 60-year-old man were injured, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Stephanie Garcia, the boys’ mother, described Jordan as an innocent, trusting and silly kid.
