The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has lodged a first information report (FIR) and sought a detailed report into the incident of reckless driving that gravely injured two chemistry department students on campus.

“The University strongly condemns the reckless driving that resulted in this tragic event. An FIR has been filed, and the concerned section of the University has been instructed to prepare and submit a detailed report at the earliest,” said a statement issued on Tuesday.

Two female students are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Nazareth Hospital.

The University has extended its support and sympathy to the injured students and their families, and is in contact with them.
