A deadly early-morning fire tore through a Washington County home on Tuesday, killing three people and triggering a massive response from local fire crews and state investigators.
Firefighters were called around 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 to the 13800 block of National Pike in Clear Spring, where they arrived to find the house “heavily involved in fire,” according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
During a primary search of the burning home, crews found three victims inside — one adult man and two adult women — all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two family dogs were pulled from the home alive and were transferred to the SPCA, officials said.
Deputy State Fire Marshals, K9 Quinn, the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, and the Forensic Science Division responded to the scene. Fire officials said suppression and overhaul operations remained active for hours as investigators worked through the debris.
The Fire Marshal’s Office said the joint investigation with police is standard operating procedure for any fatal fire.
This remains an active and developing investigation. Authorities say more updates will be released as information becomes available.
