NAPPANEE, Ind. -- Christopher Hochstetler, a 22-year-old Nappanee man charged with the Attempted Murder and Arson Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury of his mother, had his initial hearing Tuesday morning.
According to a probable cause affidavit, in the early morning hours of Nov. 12, Elkhart County deputies responded to a call from Hochstetler, who alerted them that he had tried to set his home on fire while his mother was still inside.
At roughly 1:09 a.m., Nappanee police officers were notified that Hochstetler was at the Nappanee Police Department, where he was soon after placed in handcuffs and read his Miranda Rights.
