Saudi Arabia has one of the worst human rights records, according to Amnesty International. So, I’m shocked but not surprised that President Donald Trump met on Tuesday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ( “Headwinds for Trump in persuading the Saudi crown prince to agree to normalize ties with Israel,” Nov. 16).
The crown prince, also known as “MBS,” is the despicable despot who had human rights activist Jamal Khashoggi, a dissident and critic of the Saudi regime, murdered, then dismembered. At the time, Khashoggi was a contributing opinion writer for the Washington Post, criticizing bin Salman’s crackdown on dissent and the policies of a repressive government.
