After over seven years, Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday reached the White House wherein President Donald Trump greeted him with a lavish display of pomp and ceremony, complete with a military honour guard, a cannon salute and a flyover by US warplanes.

According to The Guardian, the two leaders visited the row of presidential portraits on the colonnade at the White House, which Trump recently unveiled as the “Presidential Walk of Fame".

“We’ve been really good friends for a long period of time," Trump said of the crown prince.

This was Saudi de facto ruler’s first visit to the US after the 2018 killing of US-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

During the Tuesday’s visit, he said that the murder of journalist Khashoggi was a “huge mistake", AFP r
