The paramedic has been identified as 27-year-old Mary Jolly of Gaston County EMS

Jolly joined Gaston County EMS in 2021 and received an award for her work in 2023

An off-duty paramedic has died after she was hit by a car while attempting to help a motorist who was injured in a separate crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 27-year-old Mary Jolly and her wife were traveling down Interstate 95 in Brevard County during the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 15, when they spotted a man who was injured in a crash moments prior, according to NBC affiliate WESH .
