CANTON ‒ A 77-year-old man has avoided prison time after pleading guilty to criminal charges for firing shots into the door of a Chinese restaurant in North Canton.
The Plain Township resident pleaded guilty to six counts of aggravated menacing, one count of vandalism and one count of inducing panic in Stark County Common Pleas Court on Nov. 14. Inducing panic and vandalism are felonies of the fifth degree. Aggravated menacing is a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Judge Natalie R. Haupt referred him to Stark County Honor Court , a specialized treatment court the serves as an alternative to incarceration for veterans and active duty service members charged with felonies.
The Plain Township resident fired two rounds into the front door of Lucky Star Express around 9:30 p.m. Aug.
