Washington: The US House of Representatives has overwhelmingly voted to release the so-called Epstein files, with a bill compelling their release now making its way to the Senate and potentially the desk of President Donald Trump.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act was declared to have passed on the voices shortly after 6am AEDT. It passed with near-unanimous support from 216 Republicans and 211 Democrats, with just one Republican voting “no”.

Cheers erupted from the gallery as the bill passed, and some members of Congress on the floor joined in the applause. President Donald Trump reversed course less than 48 hours ago and encouraged Republicans to support releasing the files.
