Bessemer City High’s football program will again be under new leadership when the 2026 season kicks off.
After one year on the job, Kyle Creed stepped down as head coach of the Yellow Jackets. Bessemer City went 1-9 in his only season. An alum of the school, he also served as an assistant coach the prior three seasons.
The job opening has been placed on the Gaston County Schools web site .
“I have the utmost respect for (Bessemer City athletic director Billy James and school principal Doneen Johnson), but I believe it is my time to go,” he said. “Even as an assistant working hand-in-hand with (former Bessemer City football coach Shane Short), I was more involved than an assistant. So it’s time for some new blood.”
